Hera was de wife and sister of Zeus, and is the goddess of marriage. This is a little bit strange, seen Zeus cheated on her at least once a week! Of course she got angry about this, and all of the children who were Zeus' but not her's were her enemy. Like Hercules, she had even sent two snakes to him when he was a baby! The attributes of Hera are (for the Romans) a sheep's pelt and (for the Greek) a peacock. She was also the one who made the peacock, I'll explain. Zeus had a relationship with Io, and when Hera discovered this, she turned Io into a cow and made her servant Argus, the giant with hundred eyes, guard her. But Zeus, feeling empathy for the girl, sent Hermes to free her. According to one story, Hermes made Argus fall asleep and set Io free. Hera was angry with Argus because he let him fool himself, took his eyes and put them on the feathers of a bird. But according to another story, Hermes killed Argus and set Io free, and Hera was sad because her servant was dead. Because of this she put the eyes on a bird as a last tribute.
